Lifestyle Recap, 2012

This past year, our contributors to the Lifestyle section provided some great content for Gozamos. Often speaking from personal experience, these talented writers provided everything from book reviews to fashion show coverage to guidance on how to be healthier or pick out a manly whiskey.

One writer recalled her first time participating in the Chicago Pride Parade, and reflected on its significance in a history of fighting for and celebrating LGBT rights, and another relayed her experiences with managing her weight and getting on the right track to a healthier life. We reviewed the new book This is How You Lose Her, by Junot Díaz “at his finest”, as well as a collection of forty dramatic (yet hilarious) fictions penned by Michael Czyzniejewski.

Two of our writers provided a behind-the-scenes and in-front-of-the-camera look at the La Catrina Fashion Show 2012 at the National Museum of Mexican Art—and even told us where we could buy some fresh duds from created by the featured designers. Yet another contributing writer gave us the inside scoop on the celebration of 100 issues of la revista contratiempo and the endless number of ways it contributes to Latino arts and culture.

And last but not least, our in-house expert on how to be both modern and macho, taught us all how to be the perfect Latin Lover and how to put some hair our chests with a damn good scotch.

So here’s to 2012 and looking forward to 2013!
