ESSO Afrojam Funkbeat is celebrating the vinyl release of their album, Juntos, with a special showcase set for Saturday, August 11 at Martyrs’ featuring Sandra Antongiorgi, Beats & Bateria and Slomo (Future Rootz). This special vinyl release, with a beautiful new cover designed by Chicago artist Attitude7, is limited to only 200 copies. Tickets are available here.
If you’re a consumer of music you’ll understand the significance of a release on vinyl for any musician, marking the occasion as momentous. Statistically, according to Nielsen, there was a new record set for vinyl sales on Record Store Day this year marking, “In total, 799,000 albums in all formats sold at independent record stores, the highest non-holiday week sales total in the U.S. since July 2005.” It’s no wonder more artists are leaning toward releasing a portion, if not all, of their music on vinyl, providing an outlet for that group of growing music lovers who only buy music on wax.
For ESSO, this new album is also a celebration of all the spectacular guest appearances which include Mexican poets Rojo Cordova, Hugo Koatl and Jesus Camacho (CDMX), along with Alma Afrobeat Ensemble, Rebel Diaz, Doug Abram (Black Bear Combo), Aquil Charlton (AQ), Luna Blues Machine, Jasmine Malika and Afroqbano (Future Rootz).
Mastered at IV Labs by Rollin Weary, the release was produced by Armando Perez at Belmont Electric Studios with distribution by Sonic Octopus Records. Side A includes Baila, La Calle, Cumbia del ENcanto, Somos Hermanos and Sangre and Side B includes Meet Me Out, Mi Gente, Stone Eagle and Piramides.
#Juntos is available on all platforms: Bandcamp, iTunes, Google Play Music, Amazon Music, CD Baby The new vinyl will be available at their concert at Martyrs’ on August 11. Don’t miss out!
