Sin Cinta Previa: Latin(a) & Queer Archive Video Series, is a month-long screening/discussion series focused on the voices and experiences of Latin(a)x women and queer video art/filmmakers from the 1960s to the early 1990s. As a way to redress the invisibility of Latinx, queer and women’s historic contributions to political and artistic resistance this series focuses on vital works of empowerment and thoughtful evocation from Latin American, Caribbean, Chicana, Latina, feminists and queer filmmakers from Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United States. Conversation will be held with several artists including Lorena Barrera Enciso, Tamara Becerra Valdez, Giselle Mira-Diaz, Sarita Hernández, Silvia Malagrino and Nancy D. Sánchez at Comfort Station, June 3 – 27.

About the programmer:
Jose Luis Benavides came to curate this program through investigations into the story of his single, working-class mother’s resilience and defiance.
