New York is a cultural mecca for all sorts of Latinos, and the Latin Alternative Music Conference proves that music and cultures will keep crossing the burrows and bridges. If you can fly out to the Big Apple, I’d strongly recommend it. An absolute must for any indie Latin bands looking for representation, or new Latin oriented publicists and promoters, if the line up doesn’t impress you, than maybe the conference topics will.
This year’s Latin Alternative Music Conference presents a lively variety of Latin American indie and pop classics, from reggae and dubstep vibes to indie and classic rock. This year’s line up boasts the very best of Nacional Records and friends. From alt rock queen, Ely Guerra, to Venezuelan alternative kings, La Vida Boheme you’ll get your fare share of head banging beats.
The soft and sultry sounds of Diego García and the hit or miss sound of Jarabe de Palo will make for an interesting contrast throughout the performances. I’m most excited for the performance by the ever cool and fiercely queer Rita Indiana and the classic Chicano rockers, Los Lobos. The Afro-Colombian hip hop act Choc Quib Town, and the Afro-Peruvian, Novalima will tear it up for sure.
The conference panel topics are just as crucial as the performances. Don’t miss a beat.
