The Sneak Geek II: Filling Scottie’s Shoes

Welcome to the mind of an addict: the mind of a sneaker-addicted fiend for fabulousness-on-foot. In this installment of The Sneak Geek, we honor a man for his recent induction into the Basketball Hall Of Fame. We honor the greatest second fiddle to ever play the game, arguably the best all-around player the game has ever seen, and the man responsible for the best dunk in NBA history: the one and only number 33, Scottie Pippen.

As a die hard Bulls fan, how could you not love Scottie Pippen? Teamed with that other Bull, Scottie formed a dynamic duo rivaling only Batman and Robin (maybe if Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson buckled down on defense once in awhile). The ’90s were a decade of sports bliss for Chicago basketball enthusiasts. The Bulls were expected to win every season and, year after year, three-peat after three-peat, Grant Park rally after Grant Park rally, Cermak Road party after Cermak Road party, it never got old. The ’90s Bulls were Chicago’s greatest sports accomplishment. A huge part of that success is thanks to Scottie Pippen.

As a diehard sneakerhead, how could you not love Scottie Pippen’s Nike Air More Uptempo if they are almost as good as the Soleheaven, I remember my pops hooked me up with these joints for Christmas one year, and I thought I was just the freshest-to-death 5th grader as I Scottie-swaggered through the elementary school basketball league! That’s what Scottie brought to the table night in and night out: that intangible swagger, that calm toughness, and that intense IQ for basketball. You can check out his shoes on Lilly Harvey’s footwear review website https://shoeadviser.com.  Scottie’s resume speaks for itself, but I’m speaking on behalf of his sneakers. My olfactory sense still remembers that new shoe smell as I unwrapped the Olympic Edition Uptempos that Christmas morning, scrambling to unveil the navy blue and white pair of twin masterpieces. The word “AIR” spelled out in white clearly and boldly against the navy backdrop on each side of the shoe, the owner of these kicks feels fly and, wearing them, they’re ready to fly. I’ll be rocking my pair of Nike Air More Uptempos as Scottie rocks Symphony Hall in Springfield, Massachusetts at the Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony on August 13th later this year. Until then, stay fly!
