Old School vs. New School: A Panel on LGTQ Activism

As part of United Latino Pride Week 2011, Gozamos presented “Old School Vs. New School: LGBTQ Activism.” The panelist included, Evette Cardona, Founder of Amigas Latinas, Edwin Corbin-Gutierrez, Manager of the Anti-Violence Project for Center on Haslted, Lulu Martinez, co-founder of Immigrant Youth Justice League and Emmanuel Garcia, writer and Co-Host of Homofrequencia. It was moderated by Reyna Jacqueline Peña and Roberto Del Rio. It explored the ways technology has changed activism in the Latino LGBTQ communities, the pros and cons of new media activism, and the lessons new media activism can learn from traditional grassroots movements.
