Ah, beautiful Ecuador, warm beaches, high mountains and gorgeous views. Did I mention delicious food? As much as I wish I was vacationing there right now, I’m not so I took myself down to La Humita, a restaurant full of culture and a variety of Ecuadorian food from its homeland. Located at 3466 N. Pulaski Rd. in Chicago, you’ll be more than relaxed as soon as you step into this cozy restaurant, yet it seems to live up to a certain fun atmosphere.
Founded in 2003 by three Ecuadorian brothers who had their hearts set on serving a bit of their native land thus making a wonderful home for a tiny piece of Ecuador in Chicago. All of La Humita’s food is priced reasonably, and they have a lunch specials 11:00 to 4:00 everyday for only $6.95. Who can resist when you are being offered pork chops, grilled steak, grilled chicken, Tilapia fish and pasta with chicken? You are even served a side order of salad and home made soup. I had the pleasure of chowing down on some great empanadas for only $3.75. Stuffed with meat, eggs, olives and raisins it was by far my favorite thing on the menu. Looking for more to fill your Ecuadorian cravings? Try there Arroz con Camaron at only $14.95 you have taste some of the best jumbo shrimp you have ever had with a bit of spicy rice and my favorite coconut juice.
To top it off they have a nice little bar. So check out there variety of liquors and stop in on there karaoke nights or go and listen to there live bands. Live entertainment and great affordable food…you can’t go wrong.
