“From Houston Texas, Gio Chamba has a movement of explosive, #electropical energy, channeled through a unique blend of #multicultural influences spanning from electronic #cumbia to #hip-hop and #nuboogaloo.
After releasing his debut solo EP #Chamba, Gio Chamba was awarded with the 2015 Houston Press music award for “Best Dance Music Act.” His vibrant character, groovy beats and radiant energy on stage brought him noteworthy praise, which led to a partnership with Houston’s most dynamic
#conguero Coffee Guzman, a frontman in his own right.
The duo have performed at Free Press Summer Fest, along with Untapped Festival, CMJ Music Conference (NYC) and have opened for Los Lonely Boys, Making Movies, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Caravan Palace, OZOMATLI, Dengue Dengue Dengue, Natalia Lafourcade, Las Cafeteras, Nicola Cruz and Nina Diaz.
In mid 2016 they brought in producer/Dj, Svani Quintanilla a.k.a. Principe Q
from Corpus Christi, to co-produce their album TEJAS, released in early August. They kicked off 2017 with a Super Bowl Live performance in downtown Houston then released the single “High Rider” in late February.

(Press Release) – Gio Chamba has teamed up again with the son of A.B. Quintanilla, Principe Q to compose a futuristic Cumbia anthem, “La Futura.” This song marked the beginning of their musical friendship that was inspired by the fusion of electronic cumbia, pop, & hip-hop. Gio channels a Tex-Mex vocal style of interpretation that is reminiscent of the early years of Kumbia Kingz.
In the recording, you can hear the work of Gio on the guitar, Coffee Guzman on the congas, joined together with the futuristic production of Principe Q. Along with the single, they release a new animated VR music video created by Australia’s GIANT SWAN.”
