Gestalt Series: The Inner Workings of Secrets, A Solo Exhibit by Sandra Antongiorgi

Tonight is the debut of “Gestalt Series: The Inner Workings of Secrets” a solo exhibition by Chicago-based Puerto Rican Artist Sandra Antongiorgi. The exhibit will be on view at Paseo Boricua Gallery, located at 2636 W Division Street in the heart of the Humboldt Park community. The exhibit will run from April 3, 2017 through April 30, 2017 with an opening reception on April 14.

The exhibit features Sandra’s “Gestalt Series” which examines the natural and spiritual connections that define perception and being. In this series, Sandra explores the biological, physical, psychological and spiritual configuration of the Self. Using 120-year old wood laths and through minimal manipulation, she hopes to capture the totality or complete form of the Self, while attempting to depict the complexities of the human experience in all of its many extraordinary parts.

“It is my intention to reveal the inherited beauty within each and every one of us; the indestructible absolute; the miracles that make us whole,” says Antongiorgi.

Sandra’s collective work explores the powerful experience of humanity in a multitude of media including; etching, painting, encaustics, woodwork, installation art and song. Through much of her personal work, she delves into explorations of the darkness of being that causes suffering or marginalization. Alternatively, the public art she has created is a celebration of humanity replete with symbols of history, culture, inclusion, and optimism.
