I’ve always been a firm believer and a big fan of the combination of multiple art mediums to create a lasting effect. You know, make everything accessible to everyone. Whether it’s a collage, a montage or espionage, lacing art with other art can mean only great things for all involved!
Creators of Black and White Live Art Night, Alison Greer and Rachel Dennis have mastered the art of such intertwining mediums by bringing Black and White goers a variety of arts to enjoy on Bryn Mawr. The result is a deliciously devilish, diverse crowd combining all the elements of revelry and art worthy of Dionysus and his crew back in Ancient Greece. Hollywood Lounge hosts the event every other Wednesday. Seeds Literary Journal co-sponsors. Drinks flow at a discounted yet delicious rate. Poets sign up between 9-9:30 for performances beginning at 10. Old school black and white films flicker on the big screen (Hey, maybe you’ll find the next Dark Side of the Rainbow!). Local DJs spin after the poets. A new artist is featured every other week.
Showing December 1st is local transplant Ryan Narikawa, a self-proclaimed “bastard child of ‘80s pop culture” who cites Ed Pashcke, Chuck Close and Tom Robbins as influences.
If you can’t make it tomorrow night, Black & White happens every Wednesday, same Bat Time, same Bat Channel…
