A Mad Decent Playlist

Whoever first said the best things in life are free was spot on. This Saturday, the free music festival Mad Decent Block Party rolls into town, taking over W. Fulton Street from Ashland to Justine. Named for producer Diplo’s electronic record label, the block party and musical spectacle will feature highly danceable performances from an array of the label’s artists, and is completely free with an RSVP.

As we like to do to get ourselves pumped for any musical event, we gathered our favorite cuts from this year’s Mad Decent lineup so that you can get psyched out too.

Toy Selectah – Half Colombian Half Mexican Bandit

A hint of cumbia, tossed with a glaze of old school hip-hop whoops and drums and topped with a sprinkling of sirens and sound bites.

Bonde do Rolê – Kilo

This Brazilian trio puts Carmen Miranda to shame in this video with the fruitiest bar gig ever performed.

Nadastrom – Save Us

Your body will involuntary start to move once the house beat intro of this songs starts. Toes will tap, booties will bounce: you’ve been warned.

Action Bronson – Imported Goods

He may look like the white Rick Ross, but his flows sounds like Ghostface Killah.

Chrome Sparks – Marijuana

Kids, Marijuana is a gateway drug that could lead to heavy Chrome Sparks listening. Try it, but don’t say we didn’t warn you.
