5 Reasons to be at Spring Awakening Music Festival 2016

For those of you still toying with the idea of hitting up this year’s Spring Awakening Music Festival, what’s the matter with you?! We have five reasons why you, your family, your friends, your coworkers and your baby mamas can’t miss Spring Awakening 2016.

1) Location

After the location change to Jackson Park fell through earlier this year, the festival has finally found a new home: Addams/Medill Park in Little Italy, which is also home to Ruido Fest. What the new venue might lose in lakefront vista and the ambience of Soldier Field it more than makes up for in its new neighborhood location. Little Italy is centrally located, accessible from the Blue and Pink Lines, and situated near the confluence of all three major expressways (the Kennedy, the Eisenhower and the Dan Ryan). Plus, we all know how it gets pretty chilly by the lake at night, and sweaty bodies plus a cold breeze equals no fun for anyone. So stay warm and surrounded by one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the country.

2) Two main stages

Spring Awakening not only has a new venue this year, but also a new setup with two — count ’em, two! — main stages. The DJ Stage will feature big names like Steve Aoki, Kaskade, The Chainsmokers, and Dada Life. Meanwhile, on the Electronic Stage, festivalgoers will get to catch deadmau5, RL Grime, A-Trak, Flux Pavilion, and other masters of EDM. It’s like hitting up two concerts for the price of one!

3) Silent Disco

Besides the artists, the music and some of the more standout people in the crowd, Silent Disco is far and away the most memorable experience at Spring Awakening. Sure, nothing’s creepier than watching a group of people bounce noiselessly to the sound of nothing, but once you put those headphones on, you’re injected with the most booming beats you’ll ever hear!

4) Porn and Chicken

Porn. Chicken. Need we say more? Well, maybe we should… Porn and Chicken is the wildest, most balls-to-the-wall show in Chicago, and probably in the entire Midwest. Their events and shows satisfies our two most basic desires —  for music and sex, of course (and not specifically in that order). If you haven’t had your fill of Porn and Chicken, you haven’t had EDM, Chicago-style!

5) Because it’s SUMMER

June marks the official start of summer in the Chi, and there’s no better way to shake off the snow of winter or the raindrops of spring than to literally shaking your whole body to sounds produced by the world’s top DJs. Don’t let June slip by while you and your crew are figuring out what to do with yourselves. Start summering NOW.
