Sneak Geek V: War & Peace and The Air Penny

Let’s review: since your last visit with The Sneak Geek, a lot of serious shit has gone down in the world. Japan’s situation has escalated beyond our imagination, we’ve got another non-war…this time in Libya, Donald Trump has somehow found his way into the hat containing names on the 2012 Presidential ticket, I finished Tolstoy’s epic novel War and Peace, Arcade Fire brought home an Album of the Year Grammy, the sports world crowned a Super Bowl champ, UConn survived March Madness to become champions of The Unpaid League, Derrick Rose has emerged as the frontrunner for NBA MVP and baseball season got underway. Happy Spring, everyone. Let’s talk sneakers…

Don’t you even think about calling it a comeback, because despite the many attempts over the years, Penny will not be making a comeback to play anywhere near his ridiculous potential in the NBA. All we have are the memories, the sweet sweet memories. Throwback with me if you will to a time and place us hoop heads are all fond of, a time where the world was a different place, a simpler place. Whisk away with me to 1995: Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway, fresh off leading his Orlando Magic to the NBA Finals was the best all-around point guard in the game. Teamed with Shaquille O’Neal, this duo was supposed to take Showtime to Disneyworld, but injuries cut the superstar’s career short and Penny’s potential would remain in the Air Max Penny I. Potentially, we could be talking about Penny as one of the best of all-time. Potentially, Penny could be the best player to never actualize his potential. Thank goodness, you can potentially cop the re-release (What up, Juggaknots!)  of Penny’s signature shoe.

Set to re-release in March (originals), April and May (assorted colorways, including that sick wolf grey), potentially yout might be out there running pickup games and 9 out of ten cats on the court are sporting these bad boys. I remember rocking the all-white set back in junior high. Man, I wish my feet just stopped growing then. I’d have such a sick sneaker collection by now, but I always end up wearing mine until I need a new pair anyways, creating little impermanent, dual works of art one foot at a time. موقع المراهنات

Which brings me to the Chris Rock voiced Lil Penny doll. بلاك جاك اون لاين How many NBA cats can you think of who’ve had their own character developed for their shoe? مراهنات اون لاين That’s what I thought. None. Penny was one of a kind. Too bad his game will forever be associated with that dreaded word in sports (and life, I suppose): potential. Here’s to actualizing ours while we still can…
