Ximena Sariñana was born in Guadalajara, Mexico into a family of renowned Mexican filmmakers and actors, and is herself a multi-talented actress, songwriter and keyboardist with a lovely, expressive voice. Her 2008 debut “Mediocre” got an enormous amount of buzz, winning her two Latin Grammy and one US Grammy nominations, and the MTV Latin ‘New Artist’ win for that year. Sariñana has a new album coming out August 2nd, and will be bringing her polished, jazzy almost-pop rock ballads to Chicago twice in the next weeks – kicking off a nationwide tour with Sia and Oh Land at Metro, on July 22nd, and performing Lollapalooza on Saturday, August 6.
