Canadian Uproot Andy (Andy Gillis) and Puerto-Rican/Colombian Geko Jones (Roberto Fernandez), NY-based DJ/Producers are much like musical Indiana Joneses, criss-crossing the globe in search of undiscovered tropical gems, then taking these treasures – for example, champeta, bullerengue, soca, cumbia and recently discovered Angolan semba –and mixing them with bass-heavy beats into irresistible, original electronic creations. Together, they have also acquired renown for their residence at the extremely happening Tropical Bass “Que Bajo?” parties, put on regularly in NYC and also taken on tour around the world. Uproot Andy will bring his globalized electronic sounds to Chicago to close the Second Annual Colombian Festival on July 24.
