A Word from Angelica Taylor-Cortes:
I am the founder and president of Customized Spanish Instruction (CSI). We bridge communication gaps at work by teaching languages to clients in business environments. We offer customized Spanish lessons, English lessons, and Cross-Cultural Training to help our clients in different industries communicate effectively at work.
In my Gozamos.tv interview I failed to mention several groups of people crucial to my success as a small business owner: SCORE, the IHCC, and my team of passionate, professional teachers.
SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) is an organization that offers free counseling to people who are starting their businesses. When I came to this country and wanted to start my business, I didn’t know where to start. I was blessed to have found SCORE. They guided me through the process including providing me with a to-do list on how to start a business in the U.S. From registering the business with the state to getting financial assistance, SCORE covered all areas essential for success. They are a group of retired executives who volunteer their time to share their knowledge and passion with new business owners for free. It’s great to have these kinds of counselors on your side!
The other organization that helped me grow is the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (IHCC). They facilitate events that help their members create business relationships in the Chicago area. It’s a great organization for networking.
And my team – I’m honored to work with such highly skilled and capable teachers. Through their enthusiasm and dedication, our clients fall in love with CSI and reference us to others.
I am grateful for all the help I’ve received while trying to turn my vision of a business into a reality. Hopefully my story can help you do the same.
Sincerely,
Angelica Taylor-Cortes
