A Conversation with Latin American Film Directors

For the first time since the inception of the Chicago Latino Film Festival, the University of Chicago Center for Latin American Studies will be hosting a panel discussion and film excerpt screening with a select group of Latin American directors whose films are featured during this year’s festival.

- The Wild Ones – Patricia Ferreira – Spain
- 7 Boxes – Juan Carlos Maneglia and Tana Schémbori – Paraguay
- Upside Down – Alejandro García Wiedemann – Venezuela
- Sanandresito – Alessandro Angulo – Colombia
- Dust – Julio Hernández Cordón – Guatemala
Visa al Paraíso Screening and Discussion

On Thursday, The University of Chicago Katz Center for Mexican Studies will screen Visa al Paraíso. Visa al Paraíso documents the extraordinary humanitarian work of Gilberto Bosques during this time as Mexico’s General Consul in France from 1939-1942. The film will be followed by a discussion with the documentary’s director, Lillian Liberman Shkolnikoff, and Professors Dain Borges and Susan Gzesh. A reception will follow.
