Lolas and Lalos,
As the summer winds fade away, so does my capacity for fluffy love stories and cotton candy fiction. Gozamos is welcoming the cool, crispy fall weather with a crackling work of fiction from Nobel prize winning Portuguese author Jose Saramago. The novel Seeing tests the boundaries of the human condition and shows us the weight of an oppressive government on the masses. We are going cerebral, people. Seeing is the sequel to Blindness, a story of an unexplained mass epidemic of blindness afflicting nearly everyone in Saramago’s fictional society. To preface the novel feel free to rent the movie, “Blindness” which was adapted for the big screen in July 2007 starring Mark Ruffalo and Julianne Moore.
The location to our book club gathering is going to be Rodan (1530 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL), since apparently there are no Portuguese restaurants in Chicago, what!?
Check out our upcoming book club picks and happy reading, bookworms!
