Natalia Lafourcade brings her unique style and charm back to Chicago to fans who always receive her with open arms. Lafourcade performs May 3 to a sold-out crowd at Concord Music Hall followed by stops in New York, Washington and Philadelphia. We anxiously await material from her new album Musas Vol. 2 as she arrives, once more, courtesy of Ruido Fest.
Recently having performed at the Oscar Awards and having taken home two Latin Grammy’s for Best Folk Album and Best Long Version Video Natalia Lafourcade also sold out shows in London, Paris, and Madrid during her European tour, proving again that her music knows no boundaries.
Born in Mexico City, as a child, Natalia grew up in a musical household with parents who were both professional musicians. With a history that included singing in a Mariachi as a child and often imitating her favorite artists of the time, Natalia received her first notable recognition in 2002 when, at the age of 17, she was nominated for a Latin Grammy as Best New Artist. From there she went on to record with her band, La Forquetina, under the production of Emanuel del Real of Café Tacvba.
Natalia’s Musas Vol. 2 (Un Homenaje al Folclore Latinoamericano en Manos de Los Macorinos) was released February 9, 2018, and features 13 songs recorded with Los Macorinos. Los Macorinos are a group of guitarists originally formed to play with Chavela Vargas. Their first encounter with Natalia Lafourcade was during a tribute to Chavela , titled Chavela y sus mujeres, un canto desde el corazon in the state of Durango in 2014. Notable musicians of their own individually or collectively they have worked with artists like Jose, Lola Beltran, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Joan Sebastian, Alejandro Fernandez, Cristian Castro, and more!
