This summer marks the first ever Yo Solo Festival of Latino Solo Shows, a presentation of beautiful performance pieces by talented individuals. This festival, a collaboration between Teatro Vista and Collaboraction, should be on a short list of fun and lovely things to do this summer.
The festival is made up of a rotation of three “programs” that each consist of two solo shows. The writers/artists were selected via a nation-wide submission process, and will be performing in the Collaboraction’s Pentagon Theater in the historic Flat Iron Arts Building in Wicker Park. Their works tell a variety of stories ranging from growing up confused and irate in a Lower East Side Colombian family to a brutal New Mexican land grant war. The performances demonstrate a complex mosaic of personal experiences of Latino individuals, and in addition to some great performances, the festival also features live music and visual art exhibits. Yo Solo is a showcase not to be missed!
Performances are scheduled to run through August 12. All tickets are available online and via telephone (312.226.9633).
Tickets are $15 per program ($10 for students, industry, and people under 30).
Festival Passes, which offer admission to all three programs, go for $35 ($25 for students, industry, and people under 30).
