The Little Village Arts Fest is back for its fifth year, showcasing the work of local artists. A weekend long festivity that will transform empty storefronts, businesses, local and public spaces of Chicago’s Little Village community into art galleries for the weekend and at no cost to the public. The festival, along with music and dance groups throughout the Little Village neighborhood, provides an open space throughout the community while celebrating the talents of the featured artists.
LVAF opens up Friday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Universidad Popular, located at 2801 S. Hamlin Ave. Live performances by local acts featuring live poetry, music and dances, an arts and crafts section for the younger audience, will be available at Opening Night. Other performances and exhibits will be announced at the opening night event.
Galleries will be open Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 8 p.m., Maps and flyers can be picked up at Cathedral Café, 2500 S. Christiana Ave. or at Ageless Arts Tattoo, 2410 S. Kedzie Ave. Visit VillArte’s facebook page, www.facebook.com/villarte, for more information regarding the weekend long festival.
