Chicago’s Hispanic community will celebrate Mexico’s independence from Spain–and South-of-the-Border culture–at the 23rd annual Festival de La Vilita (Little Village Festival) at 2600 S. Kostner in the Little Village neighborhood. Attracting thousands–and wildly popular with families and children–the three-day event is the Midwest’s premier outdoor gala of Mexican culture. Admission is free.
Among the more than 100 vendors will be neighborhood restaurants serving up authentic Mexican cuisine. There will also be music as well as artisans, entertainment for kids and carnival rides. In addition, there will be appearances by TV and radio personalities.
