The Network:

I would like to start this review by debunking some myths about the mobile carrier, which is generally the last thing one would talk about when writing about a phone, but I must add that this was one of the most solid 4G LTE networks available in Chicago. I must admit that I was skeptical at first given the discourse generally affiliated with low-cost carriers, an issue addressed by Cricket themselves with their latest ad campaign, why pay more? They have a valid point, why pay more money for the same phone? Why pay more for coverage? Why pay more for unlimited data?

It would appear that we have all been conditioned to think that we pay more because that’s simply how things work.  With the launch of this phone on their network Cricket is making a statement, and issuing a challenge to the consumer, would you rather save some money every month that you could use for whatever hobby that you pursue or would you rather line the pockets of some dude from  Big Mobile? Not to belay the point but I ask you this: if someone offered you a Ferrari and gave you the option of paying $50 or full Ferrari price, what would you do?

The Phone:

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is simply put, one of the most well thought out and technically advanced mobile phones on the market today. Its features are mind bogglingly awesome and do things for you that you wouldn’t even think that you needed in a phone.

For example, Smart Screen: your screen will not turn off on you while you are looking at it (a feature also available while watching videos) you can scroll on a page using only the movement of your eyes. If the eye thing creeps you out you can use Air View, a feature that allows you to control your phone without actually touching it, simply hover your hand over it and do get on with your business, a lifesaver for those among us who are obsessed with the smudge-less-ness of their phones.  If you aren’t into hovering or controlling things with your eyes you can just yell at it to utilize the latest in voice command technology. I’ve been told that I mumble and it even managed to understand me.

You can access all of the latest apps etc, but that really isn’t anything special is it? In fact it’s almost expected, what isn’t expected, however, is an App installed by Cricket which I can only describe as an Audiophile’s fantasy. Imagine instant access to almost any song or artist, let that sink in for a moment. Muve Music is exactly that app, it allows you to download and share music instantaneously. I’m not just referring to top 40 garbage either. I truly tested its limits with some of the random things that I would look up, Th’ Legendary Shack Shakers, Johnny Horton, Los Pericos, Julieta Venegas, Amadou & Mariam. I was honestly awestruck by the sheer volume of music available at my fingertips

Technical bits:

5.0 Inch 1080p HD display, 13.0 Megapixel Rear Camera, Full Web Browsing, 1.9 Ghz Snapdragon quad-core processor, Android Jellybean (4.2)

In sum:

The Samsung Galaxy S4 for Cricket Wireless is one of the best phones on the market, If you are willing to ditch your preconceived notions and save some money I highly recommend giving it purchasing the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Muve Music.
