NAVY PIER ANNOUNCES FOURTH ANNUAL LATINXT FESTIVAL AUGUST 6 & 7 AT NAVY PIER
Featuring Local/International Latinx Artists, Record Fair, and Artisan Vendors
Navy Pier is pleased to announce the lineup for the fourth annual LatiNxt music and arts festival which will take place Friday, August 6 and Saturday, August 7. Visitors can enjoy music from Latin and South America at this free, family-friendly festival. Music performances will take place at Navy Pier’s Wave Wall and Beer Garden with a vinyl record fair at Pier Park, and an array of artisan vendors. The 2021 LatiNxt lineup includes performances by Los Rakas, Sotomayor, Angelica Garcia, and Making Movies, to name a few.
While first- and second-generation Latinos continue to expand their cultural identities, their creative melting pots continue to shape the global music community, despite its growth on the margins of a larger US market. Through the same approach, greater technological access has enabled worldwide collaborations and transformation in the arts throughout Latin America. As a result, we now have flourishing spaces that combine the past with the future. Through exchanges and performances, LatinNxt will provide a space to explore what emerges from this dichotomy, and thus connect, expand, and foster a robust dialog between Latino artists throughout the Americas.
The LatiNxt Festival is co-curated by Future Rootz, a collective of Latinx musicians, artists, taste-makers, and cultural innovators.
