RPBA explained:
“Blanca Garduno is a Latina business owner who runs the MBM Beauty Salon. Business has been slow since last year and despite the reopening phase and availability of vaccination, she has not seen a big improvement. And until now, she had never applied for any grant assistance for her business.
The Back to Business Grant Program reaches diverse and underserved small businesses through designated Community Navigator organizations throughout the State. As soon as the funding opportunity became available, Rogers Park Business Alliance (RPBA) reached out to local small business owners, including Blanca, to share the news and offer help with the application process. RPBA staff members provided one-on-one assistance and sat down with Blanca to write the application, scan required documents, and provide technical support. For Blanca, whose first language is not English, she was not familiar with the resources that were available, and applying for a grant in English was a challenge. She was relieved to receive bilingual assistance from RPBA to navigate through the application process.
Rogers Park Business Alliance helps business owners from the entire Chicago area, not just limited to those in Rogers Park.
Blanca is now waiting for the results of her application, hoping to receive funds that would go into purchasing supplies and renewing equipment in her salon. Meanwhile, RPBA is looking to help as many businesses as they can through the application. The deadline is October 13.”
Back to Business (B2B) Grant Program: This program aims to deploy small businesses recovery grants for those hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of Governor JB Pritzker’s overall economic recovery strategy, the $250 million Back to Business (B2B) grant program aims to deploy small businesses recovery grants for those hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. The B2B grant program builds on the success of last year’s Business Interruption Grant (BIG) program – an equity-focused business relief program, which directed $290 million to 9,000 businesses in 98 communities across Illinois. B2B is a key component of the Governor’s $1.5 billion economic recovery plan, aimed toward a swift and equitable deployment of American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funds that have been designated for Illinois to assist in recovery from the COVID pandemic.
