NEW: Twice the Surprise! Niña Dioz Debuts New Video PLUS This Week’s Show in Chicago (Aug 29 – Aux Art Ctr)

“The beat reminded me of the Missy/Timbaland era, early 2000s R&B and all that, so I wanted to channel that energy and give my fans something new.” – ND

Regia rapper Niña Dioz says her song “Sorpresa” was “inspired by my love of strong, independent Latina women and… cannabis. The lyrics are often flirty and sexy, but for me it is more about the feeling of owning your body and your sexuality.” The song is a single off her latest album, Reyna (Nacional Records) which includes the brand new video featured below. Niña Dioz returns to Chicago this Thursday, Aug. 29 for a performance at Auxiliary Art Center along with La Choloteca, Braided Janes and DJ Ethos. Hosted by Lester Rey.

More About Niña Dioz

“Niña Dioz continues to deliver boss track after boss track and, with each release, ups the ante in solidifying her position as a badass female emcee. Latina queer love stories (or in this case, lust stories) in Latin urban music are often a rarity, and Niña Dioz once again raises her voice (and shows off her swagger) with this track and video for “Sorpresa.”

For the “Sorpresa” video Niña Dioz worked once again with Monterrey-based Black Buffalo Films, the queer female-led production company that created the visually-stunning video for “Magdalena (Trap Orquesta).”

“The video takes place in a laundromat where I am the employee and ‘my dream girl’ suddenly shows up. A lot of crazy things start happening, and we don’t know if is real or just a fantasy. I was also happy to have a really cool crew of Voguers from Monterrey, Caderas Peligrosas, and famous drag queen Soronasty,” explains Niña Dioz.

“Sorpresa” is the latest in a series of tracks and videos that Niña Dioz has released in 2019. The track was produced by Salva, who has worked with Deeze Racal and Young Thug.

Listen to her recent album, Reyna.
