SYNOPSIS

Wickedly handsome telenovela actor Eligio (García Bernal) cheats serially on his whip-smart novelist wife Susana (Echegui) until the morning he wakes up to find her gone. Turns out she’s heading for Iowa, to a scholarship residency at famous writers’ workshop, and she soon has her belatedly contrite and suddenly re-smitten husband in hot pursuit. This romantic comedy gives equal time to comedy and romance, with steamy love scenes, realistic culture clash drama of Latinos adrift in white-bread territory, and sharply funny encounters when, in a sequence set in snowy Chicago, hot-tempered Eligio learns what infidelity feels like when the tables are turned. In Spanish and English with English subtitles. DCP digital.
