You Don’t Know My Life, Ni Mi Madre
by Arturo Luis Soria
You Don’t Know My Life, Ni Mi Madre is about a larger than life woman who claims that if it weren’t for Madonna, Meryl Streep, Angelina Jolie and Oprah, she would have been the “It” thing. But when you reach the “new energy wave” of 50, reality starts to sink in. Her motherhood stands on trial and she must deperately grapple with her own dreams, fantasies and delusions to prove that she was a good mother to the son that is quickly slipping away. Through storytelling, letter writing, lip synching and humor, You Don’t Know My Life, Ni Mi Madre explores identity, gender, culture, family, love and what it means to be a mother.
