Takin’ It to the Streets is produced and brought to Chicago by the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN). IMAN is a community-based nonprofit that works for social justice, delivers a range of direct services, and cultivates the arts in urban communities.
The artist billing includes comedians, spiritual leaders and poets in addition to hip-hop, rock, international and folk musicians. In line with IMAN’s belief in the power of art to inspire social change, the diversity, range and sweep of this year’s Streets artist lineup will be complemented by the presence of a range of inspiring activists and organizers
from across the city and country.
Takin’ It to the Streets will be a day of music, arts, spirituality and social justice in the South Side’s historical Marquette Park. In addition to performances by Muslim musicians, artists and dancers from across the U.S. and the world, attendees will experience the diversity and range of Islamic arts, as well as a day of peaceful, familyfriendly celebration.
