GROUP EXHIBITION: 11 Pilsen Artists
Pilsen Outpost is pleased to present SYMBOL, a very special two night group exhibition featuring eleven Pilsen Outpost gallery artists at Cobalt Studio.
Opening reception at Cobalt Studio
Friday, April 8th 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Saturday, April 9th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This exhibit is in conjunction with the Latino Art Now Conference: Re-imaging Global Intersections held in Chicago, April 7th – 9th.
Eleven gallery artists will be featured in the show: Magali Almada, Attitude7, Carlos Barberena, Arturo Fresan, Teresa Magaña, Antonio Martínez, Pablo Ramirez, Miguel Del Real, Roco, Matthew Silva and Diana Solís.
For the majority of the artists, the common denominator that ties their work together is their interest in the use of symbols, embedded in their work like a secret language or combining elements and styles of graffiti, pre-columbian indigenous designs and black and white stylized lettering as in the work of Miguel Del Real. All of these artists form part of a very important and ongoing rich dialog that go beyond the confines of Pilsen.
Pilsen Outpost is an artist run retail shop and gallery in the Pilsen neighborhood in Chicago. Store and gallery hours are Monday and Tuesday by appointment, Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
