The year 2010 will go down in Chicago history as The Year of the Independent Artist. Mark my words. And with these words comes a fantastic little film festival showcasing our city as a hotbed for indie art, this time in the form of film.
The South Loop Film Festival will be screening short films no longer than 10 minutes each for your viewing pleasure, but before that, the event kicks off April 8th at Whole Foods Market at 1101 S. Canal Street (just a couple short blocks west of the theater) with a Local Vendor Fair (think indoor farmers market with even more selection surrounding it). The Fest’s main event gets underway at The Roosevelt Collection’s Showplace ICON Theater at 7:30 PM.
All short films shown at the festival will have a Midwest connection, whether it be producers, directors, actors, or actresses. There will also be an audience award, which includes a $200 gift card to Whole Foods, but the main focus will be on the influx of indie film mania here in Chicago…2010-The Year of the Independent Artist-mark my words.
