Two multi-GRAMMY nominated artists, hailing form Chicago’s Mexican and African American communities respectively, join hands to explore “common denominators” between Afro-Mexican music and the Chicago Blues. This concert ought to please fans of Chicago blues and traditional Mexican music alike. It will feature two artists who have each proven themselves in their respective fields. However, sometimes the most exciting musical activity takes place in the “gray” areas between genres when artists explore new musical territories.
Last summer, at Sones de Mexico’s 20th Anniversary concert in Millennium Park, over 10,000 people got a chance to see both artists scratch the surface of this musical relationship. Don’t miss this concert as they go deeper into it.
This concert is made possible in part by a grant from The Joyce Foundation.
