RUI is a reading series – originally a fundraiser for another reading – developed by Chicago writers Amanda Snyder, Carly Huegelmann, Rob Duffer, Joe Tower and Julia Borcherts. The writers (which include a rotating roster of RUI regulars and outside guests) read a short piece of original work. They also read a few lines written by famous authors that revolve around a particular theme each month. (Past themes have included Chicago writers, suicidal authors, war, sex and banned books.)
Please join RUI from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4 for readings by local authors Josh Wilker (“Cardboard Gods”), Marc Paoletti (“Scorch,” “The Last Vampire”), Simon Smith and Windy City Story Slam all-city champion Alex Bonner. All four read original short stories and host trivia segments related to this month’s theme (“Gods”), during which you can win books and other prizes.
