Join us on January 25th for a community conversation around the Chicago Police Data Project (http://cpdb.co/) we’ve been using from the Invisible Institute. We’ll host Spanish and English discussion groups to allow people to share their stories/concerns around policing in Chicago.
In October 2015, City Bureau’s community-based journalists began conducting original reporting based on the police misconduct allegation records released in the 2014 court decision Kalven v. Chicago. Throughout the process, Illinois Humanities and City Bureau have been hosting neighborhood forums to gather community experiences and perspectives to inform the reporting. You can check out some of their work at http://citybureau.org/.
As City Bureau teams’ projects near completion, we invite you to join us for the next step in these ongoing conversations. After City Bureau staff and reporters share their work in progress, we’ll hold an open town-hall forum to discuss what their work means for everyday Chicagoans, and how City Bureau’s reporting can best serve community needs: we want to hear from you.
