Reparations Won Book Party: Love and Struggle

May 6, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

On the one year anniversary of the passage of reparations legislation for Burge torture survivors, join us to toast and commemorate the decades long struggle for justice in these cases.

Through writings, testimonies and photos, CTJM’s recently released limited first edition book captures a new community in the making as the #RahmRepNow campaign interrupted business as usual in Chicago to demand reparations for Burge torture survivors, their families, and their communities.

This special evening, MC’d by Damon Williams, will feature performances by movement artists including Ugochi and FM Supreme + readings by book contributors: Darrell Cannon, Mark Clements, Anthony Holmes, Mary L. Johnson, Joey Mogul, Mariame Kaba, Dorothy Burge, Sarah Jane Rhee, Alice Kim, and more.

All proceeds from book sales will support the work of implementing reparations, including the creation of a community center for survivors of police violence.
