Remember Rekia: A community teach in

April 28, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

This Spring, young Black people showed up, turned out, and beat Anita Alvarez- one of the most powerful, corrupt, Anti-Black States Attorneys in the country. Demonstrating, once again, the transformative power of young Black organizers.

On April 20th, the next collective campaign between Assata’s Daughters, Black Lives Matter: Chicago, BYP 100, and the fierce femmes of Fearless Leading by the Youth (F.L.Y) was announced in Rekia Boyd’s memory. We are demanding that the officer who murdered Rekia, Dante Servin, be fired WITHOUT his pension. We are also demanding that the state fund Chicago State Universirt and keep this predominantly Black school OPEN.

We need yall to win this! Please join us this Thursday for a community teach-in to learn more about Rekia, CSU, and the connections between them. We’ll discuss the politics, strategy, and goals of the campaign as well as share ways to get involved.

There will be pizza! Space is limited. Priority will be given to young folks of color. You must register here: http://goo.gl/forms/lmVR7M9cRt

We have paid far too much already to protect the racist cops who occupy and terrorize our neighborhoods, while refusing to invest in our communities.
