Quetzal Art Fest 2017!

August 5 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

On Aug. 5, 2017 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., EXPO Collective will host its third annual Quetzal Art Fest in collaboration with SGA Youth and Family Services, located at 3153 W. 47th Street in Chicago.

Just like the past two years, this year’s fest will include large scale art work, art vendors, a community art piece, music and workshops for residents of all ages. The Quetzal Art Fest was created three years ago in an effort to put Chicago on the map as a visually progressive city, while also allowing for our communities to be involved in seeing how art is created while also becoming artists themselves.

Additionally, each year, EXPO has donated large scale pieces to local non-profits that help support and uplift the community. In a way of showing our gratitude and thanks for all the work that they do, EXPO Collective found it pertinent to help beautify their working spaces and help to inspire and motivate the constituents that it serves.

This event is open to the public of all ages and free for those who attend.

Why the name Quetzal? The Quetzal is a brilliant bird that was very important to the indigenous peoples of ancient Mexico and Central America. Since the Quetzal cannot live in captivity, it became a symbol of freedom and liberty– and for EXPO Collective, a freedom of expression.
