Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi, the goal of the Port Ministries is to respond to the fundamental needs of the under-serviced south side Chicago community, and to provide the programs and services that address the root problems of poverty and despair. Here are the program and services we offer absolutely free for anyone living in our community:
Workshops for the community taught by the community to address the ever-changing needs of the community.
Staff supervised physical activities for at-risk secondary and post-secondary aged youth hosted in our indoor gymnasium.
Provides those in need with free general physicals, health consultations, and referrals.
Driving around the Back Of The Yards neighborhood to battle hunger by providing meals to under-served children, women and families.
Work studios for local visual artists. These artist provide the community with apprenticeship opportunities and creative workshops.
Our intentional covenant community. Residents are volunteers that provide over twenty-hours of service per month and maintain the Port Ministries spiritual schedule.
Elementary and middle school students from the neighborhood are welcomed to come from 3pm – 6pm, Tuesday through Friday, to receive tutoring, mentoring, homework help, and social activities in a safe, supervised environment.
