Johanny Vázquez Paz, with Mairym Cruz Bernal & Marta Collazo are featured at this Guild Complex bilingual poetry reading series.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Johanny Vázquez Paz is the author of Streetwise Poems /Poemas callejeros published by Mayapple Press (2007),and co-edited the anthology Between the Heart and the Land / Entre el corazón y la tierra: Latina Poets in the Midwest (MARCH/Abrazo Press, 2001). Her poems have been published widely in journals and anthologies, including the compilation Poetas sin tregua, Puerto Rican poets from the 80’s generation. Mairym Cruz-Bernal lives in Puerto Rico and writes in English and Spanish. A graduate of the MFA Writing Program at Vermont College, she is also a translator and a poet. She gives workshops on Creative Writing and is the author of more than 13 books. Her work has been translated into a dozen languages. Cruz-Bernal is the president of the Puerto Rico-PEN. Mairym travels often giving readings and conferences on the Confessional Movement in literature. Her work has been recognize by her contemporaries in many countries in Latin America and Europe.
