Noche de Poetas

Restoration & Maintenance of Communities

Join Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), Union for Puerto Rican Students (UPRS), Mexican Students de Aztlán (MeSA), and Students for the advancement of Freedom, Equality and Human Rights (SAFEHR) for the last Noche de Poetas (Poetry Night) of this Spring semester.

OPEN MIC!
Don’t miss out on the amazing talented poets as they share their own poetic words on this month’s theme, “Seeds of Diaspora.”
Leading the night, our featured poets: Manar Dagash & Eduardo Arocho.
In what ways have you reimagined your role as an agent of positive social change?
What are some ways you feel united to campus community?

Manar Dagash is a second year pre-nursing student at UIC, student organizer, and current president of Students for Justice in Palestine. She is a strong believer in solidarity between vulnerable, marginalized and oppressed groups and it shows extremely prominently in all she does including her poetry.

Eduardo Arocho was born and raised in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood where he currently resides. His Boricua roots and his barrio ties to HP are strong, vivid, and impenetrable. He speaks on how his community is neglected but focuses on the vibrant spirit and hustle.
