Pilsen Outpost is excited to present, “HUNGRY SOULS”, a summer solo show by street artist JASSO!
“JASSO” known by his artist moniker is one of Chicago and Pilsen’s most recognized young street artists and painters today. Influenced by his Mexican roots, graffiti and pop culture, his work juxtaposes historical Mexican iconography with contemporary pop figures. His large wheat paste works are part of the everyday urban landscape that offers viewers a refreshing and important perspective on reexamining and deconstructing cultural and historical parameters through the arts. He feels his work goes beyond mere spectator and serves as an educational tool to help reconnect a new generation of Latino youth in Pilsen and Little Village communities to their families’ roots. Beside his work in urban public places, his paintings and drawings can be seen in local galleries in Pilsen. Jasso lives and works in Chicago.
