On Wednesday, October 24, the Chicago Poetry Scene will converge for a one night only performance at the Viaduct Theater, 3111 N. Western Ave, to celebrate the release of Journal of Modern Poetry, the fourteenth edition in the Poetry Cram series. Some of the most talented as well as lettered poets in Illinois will read samples of their work in this prestigious event. The event will be free and open to the public and there will be a cash bar, so please join us for this top notch gathering of Chicago poetry.
All 300 copies of the first run of JOMP will be given away free to the contributing poets as well as to audience members at the event, and after that JOMP will be made available for wider distribution permanently. A link will be provided at ChicagoPoetry.com through which you can purchase a copy if you are unable to get your free copy at the poetry bash.
All the selected poems have now moved on to the next stage of judging, to determine which poems will receive Pushcart Prize nominations and which one poem will be selected as “Best Modern Poem” for a $200 cash prize. The winners will be announced at the big event as well as online afterward.
* Our dearest Arts & Entertainment Editor: Terry Carlton, in conjunction with other talented poets will read his work on the main stage.
Congratulations to the Poetry Cram 14 poets!
