Upon its inception the Las Lolas Book Club was off to a corrupt start not finishing our novels, forfeiting book club discussion for the movie and drinking and discussing our personal lives instead. I can proudly say that we have reformed greatly on the area of finishing the novels. Our next challenge is to make more friends. The Las Lolas Book Club is ready to shed our women-friends-only group and embrace a wider Gozamos community. We propose, The Lolas and Lalos Book Club. An open membership club for the friendly bibliophile. Our group meets monthly to discuss a book (or it’s audio equivalent). We eat, we drink and we talk about the book. We also try and incorporation a theme into our meeting (example: last month we read a book about the rise and fall of a female gang leader in Humboldt Park and we broke bread with Puerto Rican food and rum). This month’s selection is “The Man Without a Country,” by Kurt Vonnegut. Join us May 8th, 2010 at 12:00pm in the Gozamos headquarters (1732 W Hubbard) for a discussion of the book. Stay tuned for more updates.
