The teachers Union (CNTE) in Oaxaca, Mexico, has been struggling against the Mexican government privatization of education & funding cuts for the poor, indigenous population.
Last weekend, government forces opened fire on a crowd of striking teachers and their supporters, killing 12 and injuring over 50 people. The incident has received widespread condemnation with people across the US and Mexico supporting CNTE & their allies.
CNTE teachers are asking for support in the form of funds for medical supplies. Here in Chicago, concerned Bridgeport residents are stepping up to support the teachers.
100% of the funds raised Monday 6/27 at Bernice’s will be sent to CNTE.
