“Catalyze: Building a Healthy Community” is an eight-week summer workshop series geared towards the wider Argyle and Uptown community of Chicago hosted by Axis Lab.
This summer workshop series aims to provide FREE arts education and yoga classes to local residents, who otherwise may not be able to afford or have access to these programs. It’s also an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other and cultivate cross-cultural dialogue through the arts by activating their minds, bodies, and spirits.

Free Samples: Beatmaking Unity
Led by Uran Kabashi
We will begin with a quick overview of the structure of hip-hop beats, and the elements involved in making one. After this, we will be creating a beat together where the participants will provide a recorded sample, using their phone or other devices. We will arrange the beat, and put the final touches on it together.
Uran Kabashi is an hip hop artist and activist. Originally born in Kosovo, he immigrated to the US in 1999 as a refugee and has lived in Rogers Park ever since. His music revolves around social issues, identity, and creating positive change in our communities.
