The Girón Books annual Book Fair, a family event since 1986, will celebrate its 25th Anniversary on September 1 to 5, from 9 am to 9 pm, in Sam’s Club Cicero´s parking lot (2601 S. Cicero Ave.). Parking and entrance are free. The kick off will happen at 1 pm on Thursday, September 1st. The Book Fair will feature both local and the following Mexican authors:
ING. CUAUHTÉMOC CÁRDENAS SOLÓRZANO, Son of President Lázaro Cárdenas, a candidate for the Mexican presidency in three occasions, former governor of the state of Michoacán, who served as a mayor of Mexico City, will present his book of memories Sobre mis pasos (trans. Over my path; Aguilar-Santillana), on Friday,September 2ndat noon.
ANABEL HERNÁNDEZ, will present her best selling report, Los señores del narco (tr. The Lords of Narco; GrijalboRandomhouse) on Friday, September 2nd at 4 pm.
CARLOS CUAUHTÉMOC SÁNCHEZ, renowned author of best sellers such as Juventud en éxtasis, will be presenting El virus (tr. The Virus; Ed. Diamante) on Sat. Sept 3rd at noon.
CONSUELO DUVAL, an actress celebrity as seen on Mexican TV, will present Frases de Consuelo (tr. Consuelo’s Phrases; Planeta), on Sunday September 4th, at noon.
JUAN CARLOS REYNA, musician and investigative reporter, will present Confesión de un sicario (tr. A Hired Assassin’s Confession; Grijalbo-Randomhouse) , on Monday September 5th (Labor Day), at 3 pm. Besides the extensive Girón Books’ Catalog, The Book Fair 2011 will showcase books of the Fondo de Cultura Económica, local editors and authors, and several Mexican university-publishing houses, as well as other educational and cultural initiatives, along with commercial enterprises that participate in support of the Spanish reading and literacy in the United States.
