Donut Fest is Chicago’s first annual competition of yeast, batter-y, deep-fried treats. Fifteen of Chicago’s restaurants will submit their best cruller, ring or long-john and compete against each other with only one walking away with the coveted title of “Best Donut in Chicago.” Taste the delicious entries from some of Chicago’s best bakers, and sip on some of Chicago’s best coffee- all while helping raise money for Chicago’s own Un86’d.
The event is the idea of Alyssa Erickson, a true donut aficionado who knows her way around a French cruller and is seriously passionate about pastry. Alyssa teamed up with Rebecca Skoch, an event organizer of this year’s first Poutine Fest, freelance food writer and beverage consultant. Donut Fest is being held in association with 1st Ward, and is lovingly run by a couple of young women who adore Chicago’s food scene. You can find them on Twitter: Becca Skoch, Alyssa Erickson and of course, Donut Fest.
