About MPEACH (Dutty Artz, NYC/Venezuela):
MPeach (a.k.a. Mariana Martín Capriles) is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. Her experimental music is strongly influenced by a combination of Changa Tuki (Venezuela’s native ghetto-dance music), Afro-Caribbean beats and melodies rooted in traditional Venezuelan folk culture. She draws from a wide variety of musical inspirations, including “dembow, soukous, heavy bass, spanish reggae, hip hop, 4×4, grime, dancehall and kuduro,” making for a dynamic sound that stands all on its own.
MPeach is part of an emerging movement of musicians (i.e., Pocz & Pacheko, Cardopusher, DJ Yirvin, Sunsplash, Ernesto Pantin, FLYBVK) whose music is profoundly impacted by their individual cultural roots while reconstructed to reflect their global Internet-Age upbringing.
About GEKO JONES (Que Bajo, Dutty Artz, NYC)
Renowned by top DJs and producers of the digital cumbia scene in Latin America and European bass-pundits alike, Geko Jones is one of select few DJs pushing forward the Latin agenda in a global tropical bass scene. A founding member of both the New York Tropical and Que Bajo?! parties in New York, and a partner and co-owner of the Dutty Artz label with producer Matt Shadetek and DJ /Rupture, his mixes span the tropical hemispheres and weave together hours of globally sonic dancefloor mayhem.
About PRECOLUMBIAN (Cut & Paste, Philly)
Precolumbian is a Philadelphia-based genderqueer DJ, musician, and media activist. Weaving together her Immigrant Andina and Queer/Trans ancestries, her work operates as a medium for empowerment, decolonization, and community building. She has been transforming dance floors from Brooklyn to Mexico City, sharing the stage with Big Freedia, Kid Sister, Niña Dioz, Zuzuka Poderosa, Cakes Da Killa and others. Precolumbian was honored with the 2013 Leeway Transformation Award for her innovative work… in the club.
Chicago’s sporadic & nomadic Cumbia & Tropical Bass gathering, since 2011.
