Corner Stores: A Co-Op Exhibition to Feed the People
Opening August 22nd from 6:00pm-11:00pm in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, the exhibition Corner Stores: A Co-Op Exhibition to Feed the People will feature works from local artists depicting corner stores and neighborhood markets through a variety of works including, photography, installation and spoken word.
This exhibition will also be collecting food donations to support the efforts of St. Pius in Pilsen and Harmony Community Church-Chicago in North Lawndale and for use in an interactive installation during the event opening.
In combining visual arts with community awareness of food issues, connecting communities of color across neighborhoods and examining commonalities this exhibition seeks to open dialogue about cultural symbolism and the importance of supporting local business.
