Shocked by the violence he witnessed in Haiti in 2004, photojournalist Asier Reino vowed never to return. But after the 2010 earthquake that decimated most of Port-Au-Prince and nearby cities, Reino broke that promise and went back to document the continuing struggles of a country immersed in generational poverty and corruption. Reino’s sharp photojournalistic eye captures the misery and the hopes of a people that, against all odds, have long managed to proudly stand on its own two feet.
